::about the author
my name is mats monsen, I'm currently 22 years old (born february 5th 1978) and I study religion
and philosophy at the university of linköping, which is situated somewhat south of stockholm, sweden
(for those of you from other countries and things). I have been doing this for almost exactly 2 years
now, and I think I might continue doing this a few more years.
so it shouldn't come as a surprise when I say that religion and philosophy are among my main interests.
apart from this I like very much to draw (something which I haven't done in a while admittedly), some
pictures can be found in my gallery at elfwood.
I also like to write, and tend to combine this with my interest in religion and philosophy. you will be able
to find written material under 'writings' in a very near future.
so with all this interest in religion and philosophy, do I belong to some denomination or do I subscribe to
some religious dogma? no. not that I know of atleast. I am a member of the swedish church, which has
recently separated from the state, but this is mostly because I've been too lazy to leave it.
my view of religion goes something like this: we do not know the reason for living (if there even is one),
and I strongly doubt we ever will. religion can give meaning to life, or explanations or what have you, and
since we do not know the 'truth' anyway, why not just believe what we want?
for me, religion provides a framework for life, a base from where one can develop ethic and moral values, a
way of relating to the world around us. I do not subscribe to any specific set of morals or ethics, but instead
try to maintain an open mind at all times - something which is by no means easy. more about this and my views
of life in general will be added under 'writings'.

what more can be said? I frequent irc, and can usually be found at ircnet as deadlok/teishi/sunpony, most often
at #metal and #anime. I can also be found at dalnet sometimes. if you are swedish, you can find me at
lunarstorm as well.
about my other interests, I enjoy music - from blackmetal (cradle of filth, old man's child, bal-sagoth, summoning) to
goth (sisters of mercy, paradise lost, sundown, diary of dreams) to synth (depeche mode, omd) to industrial
(marilyn manson, rammstein, skinny puppy) to pop/rock (chicago, peter cetera, styx, catatonia) to rap
(cypress hill, nine, dmx) to jpop/jrock (siam shade, every little thing, hide, ayumi hamasaki).
I am also a big fan of anime/manga (vandread, inuyasha, gundam x, ninja scroll being some of my favorites), and I enjoy 'regular' movies,
such as the crow, dracula, matrix, the cell, stand by me.
also, I like to read, and I tend to lean towards fantasy of some sort (patricia mckillip and anne rice are my favorites right now).
